A: As a custom manufacturer, Phylrich finishes and assembles all products according to the individual specifications of each order.

  • For non-finished items that the plumber needs right away, like shower valves, Phylrich maintains a comfortable inventory and typically ships within 48 (business) hours.
  • For finished products like satin nickel faucets, polished gold towel bars, or antique bronze shower trim, Phylrich normally delivers within 2-3 weeks

2. Warranty, Returns & Replacement Parts

Q: What is Phylrich's finish warranty?
A: Phylrich warrants that all finishes of the Phylrich product are free from defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product, if purchased after 1996.

Q: How do I handle warranty problems?
A: Either write to Phylrich, attention Customer Care, 2222 Camden Court, Oak Brook, IL 60523 or call 1-800-PHYLRICH (749-5742). Please provide date of purchase and installation, description of nature of the defect, and model number or description of model and/or component part.

Q: How can Phylrich offer a lifetime warranty on all finishes?
A: Since its inception Phylrich has implemented the latest technology in plating and coating its products. Currently Phylrich uses a state of the art "E-Coat" to protect all of its finishes. "E-Coat" was created when Phylrich worked with vendors to create a coating designed specifically for finishes in the bath and kitchen. The result is our crystal clear "E-Coat" that allows the rich true colors of authentic finishes to show, and is strong enough to withstand the rigors of your bathroom and kitchen.

Q: What is the warranty on the working parts?
A: Phylrich warrants that all parts of the Phylrich product are free from defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product, if purchased after 1996.

Q: Does Phylrich pay for labor on warranty problems?
A: Phylrich does not pay for labor on warranty problems.

Q: What is Phylrich's return policy?
A: Returns will only be accepted at Phylrich when accompanied by a Return Goods Authorization (R.G.A.). All R.G.A. requests must be faxed with our invoice number and the reason for the return. Credit or replacement will be allowed only after careful inspection indicates a manufacturing defect or order error. Factory inspections are final. FREIGHT ON ALL RETURNS MUST BE PREPAID

Q: If new trim is purchased, will it fit older valves?
A: Yes, all valves are a standard size and any of our new faucet sets will work with the older valves. Since the 1950's, manufacturing capabilities have become greater. It is possible your old trim or valve will not smoothly fit together. Please work with your local showroom to review this.

3. Product Care

Q: What is recommended for cleaning and caring for Phylrich product?
A: All Phylrich finishes are protected by a clear coating and therefore never needs to be polished (polishing with a abrasive polish will void your warranty). Rather, we recommend that your Phylrich product be wiped clean by a soft, damp cloth on a regular basis. Avoid any buildup of soap, toothpaste or mineral deposits, as these tend to have an adverse effect on the appearance of the product as well as the integrity of the coating. Abrasives, chemicals and harsh cleaners are never necessary and use of them will void your warranty. The common rule of thumb is: when you dry your hands, dry your faucet.

4. Manufacturing & Raw Material Info

Q: Does Phylrich use PVD?
A: No. Phylrich prefers the true, natural color of each plated finish and therefore we use a clear, strong "E-Coat" instead of PVD. With E-Coat, we can offer a no-nonsense lifetime finish warranty on ALL of our finishes, including polished brass, without compromising the true warmth, depth and natural color of traditional plated finishes.

Q: Can I get a schematic drawing of a particular lavatory faucet design? How about for a faucet valve, a deck valve or a shower valve?
A: Yes. Please see the "Specifications" in this site or contact your place of purchase or your local showroom.

5. Special/Custom Orders

Q: Can Phylrich shape a customer's stone (marble, onyx, other) to fit a Phylrich faucet?
A: No. However, Phylrich does allow the purchase of a sample of our marble/onyx that has already been shaped.  This can be taken to a stone fabricator to use as a template to match the size & shape with their own stone.

Q: Can marble be used on the onyx faucets and vice versa?
A: The lever handled marble series is cut in a larger, heavier size than the lever handled onyx series. Phylrich receives these stones pre-cut and pre-polished from Italy.

Q: Can a custom faucet design be created from Phylrich parts (i.e. K160 with a K141 spout)?
A: In most situations involving Phylrich parts, this can be accomplished. Phylrich makes each faucet to order and all of our components are made of solid brass.  There are a few limitations on what you can create from within our line. Simply identify the product (i.e. a lavatory spout) and your desired components (i.e. handles from a separate series). Contact Phylrich customer service for assistance. This will involve a premium charge.

6. Finishes

Q: Is your oil rubbed bronze coated or a living finish?
A: We have our own process and name for bronze. After plating, we relieve the dark bronze from the edges to create light highlights and depth. We then apply a matt coating to preserve it. Hence, Phylrich offers "Antique Bronze", a coated, odor free and fully warranted finish.

Q: What finish combinations are offered in your Ribbon & Reed "Special Finish" series?
A: Because of the bonding nature of normal plated finishes, Phylrich offers only 4 combinations:

  • SF1: Satin Nickel with Satin Gold Ribbons
  • SF2: Satin Gold with Satin Nickel Ribbons
  • SF3: Polished Nickel with Polished Gold Ribbons
  • SF4: Polished Gold with Polished Nickel Ribbons

Q: What chrome process do you use?
A: Phylrich strives to be an environmentally friendly company. Accordingly, we use the trivalent chrome process instead of the notoriously harsh hexavalent chrome process most commonly used by faucet manufacturers.

Q: Are your gold faucets made of real gold?
A: All of our faucets are made of solid brass and then plated with one of our 19 hand worked finishes. For gold, we use a 24karat gold plate and protect the finish with our industry leading clear "E-Coat".

Q: How consistent are your finishes?
A: Very consistent, especially the polished finishes. Our hand-relieved finishes such as Antique Bronze, Antique Brass, and Pewter do vary a bit due to the nature of the finish. We recommend that all pieces are ordered at the same time to ensure the consistency of the finish throughout the entire specified product.

7. Installation

Q: Can I use putty on the fixtures?
A: Teflon tape is suggested for all showerhead, body spray and hand shower connections. Putty can be used only around the rim of the lavatory faucet drain. It is not necessary, nor recommended, to use putty anywhere else.

Q: Are replacement parts available for Phylrich faucets?
A: Replacement parts can be found on our replacement parts price list Phylrich customer service can assist with additional questions.

Q: The faucet drain is not draining as quickly as the customer would like. What are the options?
A: Remove the drain plug and remove any materials that are impeding the flow of the water. If you cannot remove the drain plug, please reference the lavatory instructions and follow the instructions to remove the ball rod that will allow you to remove the drain plug.

Q: The faucet drain will not seal.
A: This situation requires access to the ball rod under the sink. Please reference the lavatory installation instructions on how to install the drain. Adjust the ball rod and extension rod so that the drain plug drops down far enough to seal the sink.
