Phylrich Sustainability

The Phylrich team believes that quality is not only found in the aspects of a product that are seen. We extend our quality and functionality perspective to all aspects of our products including those that will remain unseen after installation.

It is with our overriding commitment to quality through and through that we highlight the following sustainability elements of our enduring, extraordinary product line.

Phylrich Sustainability Product Features

  • Low flow faucets - all our faucets are certified to be at or below the EPA WaterSense® threshold of 1.5 gpm; this reduces the consumption of water by over 30% compared to typical 2.2 gpm faucets. http://www.epa.gov/WaterSense/
  • Low flow showerheads - all Phylrich showerheads are limited to two and a half gpm. In a 10 minute shower, this can save up to 55 gallons of water a year!
  • All Phylrich products have solid brass construction which is recycling friendly. All Phylrich faucets meet or exceed the State of California (AB1953) and State of Vermont (S 152) limits for lead content; all faucet waterway materials contain less than 0.25% lead.
  • All Phylrich faucet products are certified to NSF 61.section 9. This includes regular testing and monitoring of health-related contaminants that could leach into the water.

Phylrich Sustainability Manufacturing Commitments

  • Our plating process uses a Trivalent chrome, a safer alternative than the more common Hexavalent chrome used on competitive faucets. Hexavalent Chromium has toxic and carcinogenic properties which could pose a risk to manufacturing plant workers and to the environment. http://www.p2pays.org/ref/01/00541.pdf
  • The Phylrich E-coat line minimizes waste and eliminates the overspray and vapors found in a spray coating line.

Phylrich Sustainability Packaging Choices

  • Phylrich uses all kraft cartons which are 100% recyclable.
  • The inks used on Phylrich cartons are vegetable-based and non-toxic.
  • Phylrich products are packaged in protective Instapak® foam which compresses to 10% of its original volume in a landfill and does not produce any ground water contaminates or methane gas. http://www.sealedair.com/library/brochure/instapak_gen.pdf

Other Phylrich Sustainability Factors

  • USGBC membership, creators of LEED
    • LEED
Currently, faucet products are not certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program; however use of Phylrich products can be used to help maximize points; LEED points are standardized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and by the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC).
